This series consists of correspondence, reports, and audio cassette tapes that document the application for and execution of a self-study grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities to the Museum and Educational Programs Division. The purpose of the grant was to examine the theoretical basis for an archives/history museum as a cohesive institution rather than as two separate entities. The primary product was a written long-range plan for artifact collection management, interpretive exhibits and public programs. Included with the records is a set of 10 audio cassette tapes of meetings held in April 1985 with consultants and archives staff. Participants included: Edwin C. Bridges, ADAH Director; Lynn Cox, self-study coordinator; Larry Hackman, Director, New York State Archives; Bill Tramposch, Head of Interpretation, Colonial Williamsburg; Dennis McDaniel, Director, McFaddin-Ward House, Beaumont, Texas; and ADAH staff members Alice Knierim, Richard Cox, Mimi Jones, and Clara Jehle.
